Window 95/98/Me with Dial-Up Networking

Most of our users use window 95/98/Me operation system. You can connect to TieUs from Windows 95/98/Me by using Dial-Up Networking. To check if you have Dial-Up Networking component installed in your computer, Double click on "My computer" icon from Windows 95/98/Me desktop. In my computer window, If you can see the "Dial-Up Networking" icon (Figure 1), you don?™t need to install the component, you are ready to go.

Double click on Dial-Up Networking, click on new connection. Type a new connections name, for example, "TieUs Internet." (Figure 2. Make New Connection). Click on next, another window show up (Figure 3. Enter Phone Number), enter telephone number (6046388856 for 56k line or 6047187288 for 33.6k line). Click on next and finished the setting. You should now able to see another icon called "TieUs Internet" in Dial-Up Networking folder. Double click on "TieUs Internet" icon, a dial up window shows up (Figure 4. Enter Login, Password.). After enter your login and password, click on connect. You should able to hear your modem start to make a dial attempt. After the dial complete, our system will check your login and password. After the checking complete you will see a connection box shows on your window. At this point, you are now connected to the Internet. Congratulation !      6046920739 (for 56K V.90 or X.2 modem)
 or 6046388856 (for others modem)

Window 95/98/Me without Dial-Up Networking

If you did not see the "Dial-Up Networking" icon in My Computer windows, preparing to have your Windows 95/98/Me installation disks or CD ready. The following procedure will help you setting up Windows 95/98/Me Dial-Up Networking Components including


Windows 95/98/Me Dial-Up Networking components

In order to use Windows 95/98/Me Dial-Up Networking to connect to TieUs Internet, the following components must be installed first:

Dial-Up Networking

Dial-Up adapter

TCP/IP protocols

1. Click on the Windows 95/98/Me Start button, Select Settings and select Control
    Panel.

2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon inside the Control Panel folder
    (Figure 5).

3. Select Windows Setup tab in the Add/Remove Programs Properties window,
    double-click on Communication in components list. (Figure 6. Add/Remove Programs
    Properties Windows)

4. In the communication list, check (click on it) the box on the left side of Dial-Up
    Networking (Figure 7 Communication Lists), click on the OK button to go back to
    previous windows, click on the OK button again.

5. Insert the appropriate disk when prompted and click on the OK button.

6. Windows will install the files and prompt for restarting the computer.

7. Restart the computer

Check in your "my computer" folder in the desktop to see if the Dial-Up Networking folder is there. If it is installed, go to the previous setup procedure for Window 95/98/Me with Dial-Up Networking.

Installing Dial-Up Adapter

To install Dial-Up Adapter,follow these steps:

1. Click on the Windows 95/98/Me Start button, selecting Settings and select Control
    Panel.

2. Double-click on the Network icon inside Control Panel folder.

3. Click on the Configuration tab and look for Dial-Up Adapter in the list of
    network components.

4. If Dial-Up Adapter is found, proceed to the Installing TCP/IP protocol section.
    Otherwise, click on the Add button.

5. Select the Adapter network component and click on the Add button.

6. In the list of Manufactures, select Microsoft.

7. In the list of Network Adapters, select Dial-Up Adapter, click on the OK
    button, and click on the OK button again.

8. Insert the appropriate disk when prompted and click on the OK button.

9. When prompted to restart the system, do not restart the system yet. Instead
    click on the No button and move to the next section.


Installing TCP/IP protocol

To install TCP/IP protocol, follow these steps:

1. Click on the Windows 95/98/Me Start button, Select Settings and select Control
    Panel.

2. Double-click on the Network icon inside Control Panel folder.

3. Click on the Configuration tab and look for TCP/IP in the list of network
    components.

4. If TCP/IP is found, proceed to the Binding TCP/IP protocol to Dial-Up adapter
    section. Otherwise, click on the Add button.

5. Select the Protocol network component and click on the Add button.

6. In the list of Manufactures, select Microsoft.

7. In the list of Network Protocols, select TCP/IP protocol, click on the OK
    button, and click on the OK button again.

8. Insert the appropriate disk when prompted and click on the OK button.

9. When prompted to restart the system, do not restart the system yet. Instead
    click on the No button and move to the next section.


Binding TCP/IP protocol to Dial-Up adapter

To bind TCP/IP protocol to Dial-Up adapter, follow these steps:

1. Click on the Windows 95/98/Me Start button, select Settings and select Control
    Panel.

2. Double-click on the Network icon inside Control Panel folder.

3. Click on Dial-Up adapter and click on the Properties button.

4. Select the Bindings tab.

5. If the TCP/IP protocol is checked, if not, check it.

6. Click on the OK button and click on the OK button again.

7. When prompted to restart the system, do not restart the system yet. Instead
    click on the No button and move to the next section.


Checking TCP/IP Protocol setting

1.  Click on the Windows 95/98/Me Start button. select settings and select Control
     Panel.

2. Double-click on the Network icon inside Control Panel folder.

3. Check the Dial-Up adapter and TCP/IP protocols

4.  Click on TCP/IP protocol and click on the Properties button.

5.  Click on the IP Address tab and select Obtain an IP Address automatically

6.  Click on the WINS Configuration tab and select Disable WINS Resolution

7.  Click on the Gateway tab and make sure no gateway info is supplied.

8.  Click on the DNS Configuration tab, Select the Disable DNS option.

9.  Click on OK button and click on OK button again

10. Restart your computer.

After you restart the computer you should able to see the dial-up networking component installed.


Q1.
(1) How do I setup a dialup entry for TieUs Internet. (2) After I double click on new connection called "TieUs Internet" I just make, a connection dialog box shows up (figure 4). After I click the connect, it takes a long time to check the login and password.

Creating and Setting up Dial-Up Networking Entry for TieUs

To create and setup a Dial-Up Networking Entry for TieUs, follow these steps:

1. Click on the Start button, select Programs, select Accessories, and select
    Dial-Up Networking.

2. Double-click on Make New Connection icon.

3. Type a name for the computer for dial up: Type in "TieUs Internet"

4. Click on the Next button.

5. At the Telephone number input field, type in our dial-up access phone number.

6. Click on the Next button.

7. Click on the Finish button. An icon named TieUs will show.

8. Right-click on the TieUs icon and select Properties.

9. Click on the Server Type button.

10. For the Type of Dial-Up Server, select PPP: Windows 95, Windows NT
      3.5, Internet option.

11. Un-select Log on to Network, Un-select NetBEUI, Un-select IPX/SPX
      compatible
and leave the TCP/IP selected. (This will speed up your login
      process)

12. Click on the TCP/IP Settings button.

13. Select Server assigned IP address option.

14. Select Server assigned name server addresses option.

15. Click on the OK button again to finish the process.

. (1)Do I need to set TCP/IP and DNS name before connect to Internet (2)After Connect to TieUs. I cannot browse any web site. The browser seems going nowhere.

A2. If you can connect to Internet and cannot browse the web. You might have your DNS setting wrong from your previous ISP. You really don?™t need to have those DNS information for connecting to TieUs, our server will response those information to your computer during connection. If you really want to put the information for DNS setting please follow the procedure.


Setting TieUs Domain information

To set TieUs Domain information, follow these steps:

1. Click on the Windows 95/98/Me Start button, select Settings and select Control Panel.

2. Double-click on the Network icon inside Control Panel folder.

3. Click on TCP/IP protocol and click on the Properties button.

4. Click on the IP Address tab and select Obtain an IP Address automatically

5. Click on the WINS Configuration tab and select Disable WINS Resolution

6. Click on the Gateway tab and make sure no gateway info. In supplied.

7. Click on the DNS Configuration tab.

8. Select the disable DNS option. (You don't really need to enable this for TieUs)

9. Click on the OK button and click on the OK button again.

10. In order for the installation/settings to take into effect, the computer must be restarted. Click on the Yes button to restart the computer when prompted.
